What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge And Spotting?

hello my regular menstrual cycle began Friday January 23 and ended Thursday January 29 which is a normal cycle for me. I douched on the 1st or 2nd of February now on Friday February 6th I began having a brown vaginal discharge and I am still spotting is this normal? I am 44 years old I will be 45 in april.
