What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge While Using Mirena Birth Control?

Hello, I have a question as far as using the mirena birth control. I had the mirena inserted in October. I don't have unusual side effects or anything, I just get mild cramping. My question was I have recently had dark brown stringy discharge, and I'm not to sure if that's normal or not. Can you help me please ?
