What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge?

Hi. I am 22yrs old. My period started last week wednesday and ended the friday.now this week on thursday night I noticed brown stringy stuff in my discharge,sorry tmi.and this morning.now there's nothing. I am on the pill triphasil,and I have never had this happen to me.any help would be much apreciated :)
