What Causes Brownish Discharge During Menstruation?

I had a baby 7months ago and I am not using birth control since. I am 31 years old. My cycles had returned to normal with the exception of the last 2cycles. I am having a thick dark brown discharge mid cycle lasting over a week with very mild cramps. Should I be concerned?
