What Causes Bruise In The Stomach Area Where The Injection Was Given?

I received two shots in the stomach area while a patient in the hospital on Feb. 11, 2011. I still have a bruise where one of the injections was given. The injection was to prevent blood clots. Is this something I need to get checked? I am 58, 5"3" and was in the hospital being treated for pneumona.
