What Causes Bruise On The Left Side In My Lower Abdomen/groin?

I only just noticed a large (1 inch across) bruise on the left side in my lower abdomen/groin. There is no pain (for now anyway), it was not there this morning and have not had any impact injury to that area (at least none that I recal today). What could be the cause??/
