What Causes Bruises On Knees?

I have bruises on my knees all the time...continously and have for as long as I remember but have no idea how I get them. I have no reason for them or cause. My knees are not sore or in pain.... when my doctor saw it he had me have an EKG...which was fine. What could be the cause?
