What Causes Bruising And Inflammation On The Top Of Foot?

I had a horse stand on my foot two days ago and it did break the skin a little bit but no really bleeding, I can walk on it with only a small about of pain. But my concern is the red swelling that has spread across the top my foot (the side of my foot was stepped on) and is stinging and burning and also itchy should I be worried?
