What Causes Bruising And Swelling In Knuckles Post Injury?

I fell and put my arms out to save myself and my left hand had taken all the weight of me. woken up next day with small bruise on middle knuckle later progressed to a big bruise and a big swelling and It is very painful to touch it or pull my fingers back. Any ideas on what it could be as I do a lot of dance and need to quickly resolve injuries. Thanks
