What Causes Bruising From Hip Bone Radiating Down The Leg?

My husband fell in the tub 2 weeks ago....nothing broken xrays showed; however a very large lump developed on his hipbone the next day. Dr. said It was blood accumulation around the muscle. Still there,with a black and blue bruise all the way down his leg. We are now out of the country...we're Canadians now in Florida. What do we do now?
