What Causes Bumps Around Nipples After Nipple Piercing?

I got my nipples pierced on February 4th 2015 and I had barbells in for the whole month of February and then somewhat recently in early to mid March I switched to a barbell with a chain. Since then I have developed some unsightly bumps next to my left nipple on both sides. At first I thought I just have to get used to the chain but I took the chains out yesterday because I thought they may be the cause because they were causing some irritation and were digging into my skin. I now noticed that I am also developing a bump on my right nipple as well. Before I got out of the shower I popped the two big bumps on my left nipple and they leaked with blood. My question is should I take the piercings out all together or will the bumps go away and if so what can I do to help them go away quicker? By the way I m and African-American female so would scarring really be visible?
