What Causes Bumps On Legs?

My boyfriend on both of his legs has a lot of zit like bumps on his legs. It's not herpes, it looks like foliculitis, but it usually appears after friction of his legs and my legs after sex, usually a day after and they stick around for a week or two. Any ideas of what it could be?
