What Causes Burn Marks Under Nostrils?

I recently had a sever sinus infection and spent a lot of time blowing my nose. Thinking it was a cold, I applied vics vapor rub around my nose to help clear my passageways. I now have what looks like burn marks under both nostrils. Is this common?
