What Causes Burning And Soreness In My Left Nostril?

Hi, I have been having burning and soreness in my left nostril exactly along the septum for a few weeks now. It keeps forming a scap of old mucus and then it peels off and is sore again. It constantly burns if I dont use an antibiotic ointment or vaseline on it.
