What Causes Buzzing Sound Along With Irritation And Pain In Ears?

I have a sore ear and have seen my Dr. a week ago and was told my canal was irritated, he prescribed ear drops but it still hurts. It feels like there is a bussing sound and my side of my face like when one gets freezing at the dentist and it is thawing , also painful. please help . Thank You Isobel.
