What Causes Chronic Cough, Sore Throat And Fatigue?

My 9 year old daughter has now had 3 weeks of a persistent cough, fluctuating temperature, sore throat and fatigue/dizziness. GP has said its viral and need to just ride it out as chest is clear but no sign of improvement. I think it s influenza, any ideas?
