What Causes Chronic Pain In Lower Abdomen?

My wife has a chronic pain in lower right side of intestines. She has had her appendix removed and a complete hysterectomy approx 30 years ago. also she has had Ultra Sound which indicated no abnormalities. The pain comes and goes she believes that it could be connected to her sciatica problem which is directly behind the problem pain.
