What Causes Clear Vaginal Discharge Before Menstruation?

hey ok so i missed my period for december the 27th and both a blood test and home test said negative for pregnancy. now i am about a week or so from my expected period but im having light almost no bleeding accompanied by clear discharge but it was here yesterday then went away and has just shown up a little bit and gone away again.
