What Causes Clogging Of The Ear With Stinging Sensation?

I have been having problems with my left ear over the past year or so... I have been to the doctors and they always give me ear drops and tell me to avoid cleaning my ears. However, it does fade in a week or do, my ear gets clogged and sometimes I have a stinging feeling in it. I try my best not to stuff it with anything or play with it. When I listen to music my ear is extra senitive and I can't wear earphones.
