What Causes Clubbing Of Finger Nails?

i have had thick toenails for years, i noticed in the last two years my fingernails were clubbing the dr. sent me to get ct scan they found my lt. lung had something ,so i went back to see if any change ,took all kinds of test ,they said lungs are find ,but won't give me any reason for the fingernails
