What Causes Cold Along With Fatigue?

My daughter what appeared to be a cold last Mon. Now a week and a half later, she is still hacking, with a slight runny nose, and feeling exhausted if she goes out to walk the dog or run errands. The hacking has gotten better daily since starting Musinex on Sat but is still there. What could this be?
