What Causes Cold And Chills Along With Mild Diarrhoea?

I believe I ve just had the flu, but am back to work. My wife and son have it now and are at home. My 89yr old mother in law lives with us. I don t know if she got the shot this year (I didn t). The symptoms played out as follows. Day 1: like allergies/head cold Day 2-3: add chills and lethargy, low grade fever (~100-101F) Day 4: mild diarrhea Does this year s vaccine cover the type of flu that we seem to have? Her mother in law s doctors office is closed till next week, and I can t find out if she got the vaccination.
