What Causes Constant Cough Each Time On Taking Food?

I had a doctor go down my esophagus and he found an ulser that he said he took care of because I could not swallow. He gave meomeprozole to take and said my esophagus was greatly irritated. I can now eat everything but I have a cough every time I eat. Would coffee make me cough?
