What Causes Constant Drainage In Ears?

I have been experiencing constant ear drainage over the past 3 weeks and have went to dr. She said that it must be an allergy and take over the counter med. I have tried and the drainage continues and it has gone from clear to yellow. Called dr. back and was told to drink warm fluids as must be congested . I need help please
