What Causes Constant Pain In My Thigh?

I have been suffering from pain in my left thigh for about a month with random onset of heaviness in my chest at night similar to a 10 pound weight. is this serious? and what can I do for the pain? so far heat and cold does not help and no safe amount of over the counter drugs help the pain.
