What Causes Constant Pelvic Pain?

I have had an intermittent intense stabbing pain (lasting about 10 seconds) for about 3 weeks now in my lower left ..close to my pelvic area. It may skip a a day. It may only do it three to four times a day. Now it has become a constant nagging dull pain. Any ideas? Debra
