What Causes Constipation And Blood In Stools?

my husband was constipated yesterday today he went a little and was bleeding. should he try like miralax or ducolax see how that does if still bleeding will take him to e.r. what could cause this bleeding? he has not gone since and stomach is starting to hurt.
