What Causes Continuous Cough?

My kid [ 14month old] is having cough contineously for 7 days. We have given couple of medicines budecort and asthalin thru nebulizer but not any relief, please suggest. Is this dangerous, we are very scared. He has been coughing ful night. Plz suggest.
