What Causes Cramping And Vaginal Spotting After Removing Nuvaring?

I accidentally removed my unvarying one week early and ended up having a period. Unfortunately i wasnt able to get a refill to put back in the next week. It's now two weeks since i removed it and I'm feeling horrible cramps and spotting again. Is this another period or is my body just trying to adjust to not having another ring in?
