What Causes Crusty Dry Stuff In The Ear?

I have been waking up to quite a bit of white crusty stuff dried in my right ear for the last few weeks. There is no odor nor is there blood that I noticed. I do have a minor problem with vertigo for the last 9 years. No constant pain. No fever or head injury. Healthy 59 year old. Childhood history of ear infections. Thoughts?
