What Causes Curly And Dry Hair While Suffering From Low Platelet Count?

I have always had absolutely straight hair; all of a sudden one side of my head started to be almost curly and dry; it is the side I sleep on but I am in my seventies and it all seems most odd. Pili Torti has been mentioned by knowledgeable friend. What say you? Last year I had platelet trouble and had to be in hospital for five days on a drip; have digestive troubles and couple of years ago had shingles and am still suffering nerve end pains. Why any of this should affect my hair I don't know.
