What Causes Dampened Form Of Headache On The Left Side Above The Ear?

I'm 67 yrs old male, weigh 178 lbs, fairly active, I exercise at a gym 5 times a wee. Diabetic, although controlled pretty good, recent A1C 5.8, blood pressure regulated through 20mg atenolol 1/day. I'm experiencing a sharp spike of headache on mymleft side, above the ear, that lasts for 5-10 seconds, followed by a dampened form of headache in same general area that lasts for few minutes. I've been diagnosed with migrane (for the last 20 yrs) ....my migrane, althoght on the left side, is usually centerted behind the left ear area but radiates through out the left side...it feels different from recent headaches that I'm experiencing for mor than six months now. Thanks for your help.
