What Causes Dark Brown Discharge Fro Vagina?

I am on the pill Logynon and I was going to New york for a week and didn't want to be on, So I carried on another pack, I got back last monday and on thursday I started to get dark brown discharge like old blood, Is this normal as this has never happened before when I have taken two pill packs?
