What Causes Dark Coloured Urine Along With Foul Odour?

My father is 90 years old. He can t eat without vomiting, and has no appetite. He went to the ER last Friday and they kept him in the hospital overnight and said all they could find was he was dehydrated and gave him fluids. He has been experiencing complete confusion, says he feels really weird but can t describe how it feels. My friend said that and passed away the next day. His urine is very dark almost red and has a really foul smell. The visiting nurse came on Friday and said he could have a UTi, we took his urine to the lab but they said it would be 48 hours. Should we call 911.
