What Causes Dark Itchy Groin?

Hi, I've had a dark, itchy groin since last year, I think, and I bought an anti-fungal cream. It says to use it twice a day for 7 days. I did it and it relieved the itch...for a while. After the 7 days, I stopped and the itch came back. It's been a few weeks...am I able to use the cream again? Sometimes, only when I am reminded that I have an itchy groin do I start itching...does this mean it's psychological?
