What Causes Dark Red Bruise On The Back Of My Knee?

After playing football on Sunday and a game on Wednesday, the backs of my knees are covered in dark red bruises. There has not been any impact injury. There is no swelling or pain. I am 44 years old. This happened once before when training for a race.
