What Causes Dark Spot On The Penis?

There is a dark spot on my penis head which had been there for 8 years. It never changed color or shape. It never caused any pain or other effects. It's about a centimeter long, maybe a bit less. I recently heard about a skin cancer called melanoma so I was wondering if there is any chance it could be cancer or anything.
