What Causes Dark Vaginal Bleeding Along With Absence Of Periods?

Hi, i haven't been on the pill for a few months now and I had missed 2 periods but I had taken numerous tests which came up negative. I had a couple of drinks at the weekend and 2 days later I was getting vaginal bleeding, it was dark brown almost black. Can you tell me what caused this?
