What Causes Darkening Of Skin On The Upper Region Of Inner Thighs With Itching?

I have a problem for about one year now. Between my legs on both sides the skin is very brown and itchi especially when i sit down and it's sweaty .
I continuously scratch and as I scratch it gets even more itchi . I end up with broken skin .. It is very irritating . The most times it is itchi at night time even if the skin it's not sweaty and it's dry. I have intented to go my GP but I find it embarrassing.
