What Causes Darkness Around The Navel Piercing?

Hi, I ve had my belly piercing for about 4 months now going on 5 and the skin around the top hole is very dark, is it going to go away? I clean it regularly and I have no signs of infection other than the dark skin but sometimes it hurts to. It can be from my clothes rubbing against it.
