What Causes Deep Purple Colour In Hands?

I was outside today in shorts, by the ocean; it was raw and misty, probably in the 50s. My hands were in my pockets and when I took them out they were a deep purple color, but I had no other symptoms. I'm 60 yrs old and very physically fit. No known history.
