What Causes Delay In Menstruation?

I had my period on Aug 19th. I have skipped my period before, I believe due to stress. There is also a family history of PCOS. I haven't been diagnosed yet nor had any prior signs. But my mother was my age when she found out. One of her signs was irregular periods. I haven't had sex except on one occasion in July. Should I go get a test?
