What Causes Delay In Periods?

I have recently taken a pregnancy test and it said negative. I am having all the symptoms of my period break outs, chocolate cravings, cramps, bloating, weight gain,etc. But it is a week and a half late and my period is not regular. What is the cause of my period being late?
