What Causes Delayed Period After Stopping Pills For Heavy Periods?

Hi I suffer from heavy periods and they are about every ten days, my gp gave me some tablets to take twice a day and said the day after i finished them my period would start, that was 3 weeks ago and still no period, I have been trying to concieve for 2yrs but without sucess
