What Causes Delayed Period While HPT Is Negative?

I am on my menstral every 28 days. I was due yesterday but no period. Me and my fiance were trying to have a baby so we of course had intercourse while i was ovulating. Only problem is im having negative results. I have a lot of symptoms and im really suspicious. What could this be?
