What Causes Delayed Period While On Folic Acid?

am trying to get pregnant and my doctor say i should folic acid 5mg and i have started taking it and i am suppose to see my period on the 20th of February 2014 and it hasn't come but am feeling as if the period want to come at any moment pls i don't understand
