What Causes Delayed Periods Along With Stringy Vaginal Bleeding?

I have been off the depo for 2 years after being on it for 9 years I went on the pill and suppose to have a period once every three months its been 2 years and this is the first time I have gotten my period it isreally dark and stringy is that normal?
