What Causes Delayed Periods While On Metformin For PCOS?

I have been taking 1000mg of Metformin for PCOS daily for the past two weeks and am now a week late for my period. I am not experiencing any PMS symptoms as I usually do, extreme breast tenderness, I actually feel really good! Is it common that Metformin may delay a period?
