What Causes Delayed Periods While On Birth Control Pills?

Hi. I am on a birth control that causes me to only have my period every 3 months. But at the end of the months when I don t get my period, I notice I have what feels like menstrual cramping when I get aroused. I m just wondering what causes that and if it s normal?
