What Causes Delayed Periods With Yellowish Discharge?

This is going to sound gross but I m a 26 yr old female whose trying to get pregnant n today it felt like I started my cycle which is late n when I got to the bathroom it wasn t blood but a yellowish liquid color. No bad smell or anything. Soaked my panties as well. What is this n why?
